Wisconsin state regulations dictate that records recording public activities like court documents, police arrest records, marriage licenses, traffic infractions and more are open and offered to the public, largely due to the Wisconsin Open Records Law, which recognized its centennial anniversary in 2017. All pertinent information on the various happenings of law enforcement, municipal courts, and local government are contained in these records, and generally are presumed public unless formally redacted. Inhabitants of Wabeno are able to better recognize their rights due to these laws, and the transparency available from the release of these records helps to keep both criminals and regulators responsible with regard to their actions, in turn resulting in a more open and free society for everybody.
