Wisconsin’s Open Records Law of 1917 promises its locals the right to seek out, get, and utilize records kept by government bodies, which includes arrest records, court records, marriage and divorce certificates, and records of traffic transgressions, and this privilege also includes the locals of North Freedom. All pertinent details about the many happenings of police officers, local courts, and local government are incorporated into these records, and generally are believed public unless legally redacted. These laws give the people of America, and North Freedom, the ability to examine and realize their rights, the precedents that led to those rights, and when those rights are infringed upon, which in turn creates a more free and transparent society for all.
