Wisconsin state guidelines stipulate that records showing public activities including court documents, arrest records, marriage licenses, vehicular violations and more are open and offered to the general public, largely as a result of the Wisconsin Open Records Law, which commemorated its centennial anniversary in 2017. All significant facts about the multitude of happenings of police officers, local courts, and local government are found in these records, and generally are assumed public unless legally redacted. Both authorities and criminals are able to be held responsible because of their actions because of these laws, which give the citizenry with the tools they require to examine concerns independent of their governing administration.
