Wisconsin state regulations stipulate that records recording public decisions such as court documents, police arrest records, marriage certificates, traffic infractions and more are open and available to the public, largely as a result of the Wisconsin Open Records Law, which commemorated its centennial anniversary in 2017. All relevant information about the various happenings of law enforcement officials, municipal courts, and local government are incorporated into these records, and are presumed public unless formally redacted. Both administrators and offenders may be held responsible because of their conduct because of these laws, that provide the populace with the resources they require to explore problems independent of their governing administration.
