Washington state regulations dictate that records recording public decisions like court documents, police arrest records, marriage certificates, vehicular violations and more are open and available for the public, largely because of the Washington's 1973 Public Records Act. This information contain titles, dates, information on incidences, sentences, proceedings and more, and generally are all presumed public unless otherwise stated. Inhabitants of Rainier have the ability to better realize their rights thanks to these laws, and the transparency offered by the release of these records maintains both criminals and authorities responsible with regard to their actions, in turn resulting in a more open and free society for everybody.
