Washington state guidelines determine that records recording public actions such as court papers, police arrest records, marriage licenses, vehicular infractions and more are open and offered to the general public, largely due to the Washington's 1973 Public Records Act. These records contain titles, dates, information on incidences, sentences, proceedings and more, and are all assumed public unless otherwise stated. Both administrators and offenders may be held responsible for their behaviour thanks to these laws, which give the citizenry with the tools they will need to investigate issues independent of their governing administration.
