As a result of the U.S. Freedom of Information Act, state governments put into practice their own regulations regarding government record transparency, as a result of Tennessee’s Open Records Act, residents of Halls can take advantage of transparency in their municipality. These laws, or rather series of laws, give Halls inhabitants the capability to search for, record, and apply these records, including details about those concerned, if the event occured, the final results of any municipal motion, and information on what happened. This legislation, that was largely based on the U.S. Freedom of Information Act, are in place to ensure U.S. Citizens and residents of Halls have the ability to understand their own protection under the law, and hold authorities and criminals responsible for their actions, supporting a free and open culture for everyone.
