Liberty holds that records on car violations, documents, marriage and divorce licenses, property and lien records, and a lot more and offered to people due to South Carolina’s Freedom of Information Act. This law, itself based on the Freedom of Information Act at the federal level, provides Liberty people with information concerning instances of governmental involvement, such as the names and addresses of those involved, the events leading up an incidence, effects and sentences passed down, and more. People of Liberty have the ability to better understand their rights due to these laws, and the transparency provided by the release of these records helps to keep both criminals and authorities responsible with regard to their actions, subsequently resulting in a more open and free society for everybody.
