Oklahoma state regulations dictate that records revealing public activities including court documents, police arrest records, marriage certificates, traffic infractions and more are open and accessible to the populace, largely because of the Oklahoma Open Records Act. All pertinent information about the multitude of happenings of law enforcement, city courts, and local government are contained in these records, and generally are assumed public unless formally redacted. Residents of Foss are able to better understand their rights because of these laws, and the transparency provided by the release of these records keeps both criminals and authorities responsible with regard to their actions, in turn resulting in a more open and free society for all.
