North Dakota’s Open Records Statute promises its people the right to look for, acquire, and use records kept by government bodies, which includes arrest records, court public records, marriage and divorce licenses, and records of traffic transgressions, and this right also includes the people of New Salem. Because of these laws, North Dakotans have access to, study, and get information about police arrest records, marriage certificates, court papers, and traffic infractions, all of which contain titles, dates, sentences, and particulars on events which happen within the municipality. New Salems authorities and criminals are both held accountable thanks to the openness given with this law, making New Salem, and by extension the country, an even more free and open society.
