As a consequence of the U.S. Freedom of Information Act, state governments put into practice their own regulations regarding government record transparency, and because of Missouri’s Sunshine Law, which was signed nearly half a century ago, people of Butler can take advantage of transparency within their municipality. These laws, or compilation of laws, give Butler people the opportunity to search for, document, and apply this data, including specifics about those concerned, if the event took place, the results of any municipal action, and information on what transpired. Both regulators and offenders can be held responsible for their conduct as a consequence of these laws, which provide the citizenry with the resources they require to study concerns separate from their governing administration.
