Massachusetts state guidelines dictate that records recording municipal activities for example court documents, police arrest records, marriage licenses, traffic violations and more are open and offered to the public, largely due to the Indiana's Public Records Act. Because of these laws, Indianans can access, research, and acquire information on arrest records, marriage licenses, court papers, and traffic violations, which all contain titles, dates, sentences, and particulars on events which happen inside the municipality. This legislation, that was largely in line with the U.S. Freedom of Information Act, are in place to ensure U.S. Citizens and citizens of Georgetown are able to understand their own privileges, and hold government bodies and criminals responsible with regard to their actions, promoting a free and open society for all.
