Colorado’s 1969 Open Records Act promises its locals the legal right to find, look at, and recover records held by municipalities around the state, including documents, vehicular traffic infractions, marriage and divorce licenses, property and lien records, and much more. This statute, itself in line with the Freedom of Information Act at the country wide level, provides La Junta residents with details concerning instances of governmental involvement, such as the addresses and names of those involved, the activities leading up an event, effects and sentences passed down, and much more. La Juntas law enforcement and criminals both are held accountable thanks to the transparency afforded with this regulation, making La Junta, and by extension the united states, an even more free and open culture.
